Artist Bio

Kristen Tsiatsios is an interdisciplinary artist who uses the body, site, and image to create experiences layered with meaning.  Creating site-based work since 2000, she challenges audiences to participate and examine behavior and psychology.  Her process-centered approach flirts with the distinction between art and life, playing with perception and creating new perspectives.

Tsiatsios has created numerous works for non-traditional local venues, including the Central Public Library, Henry Jackson Federal Building, Gasworks Park, Experience Music Project, and Consolidated Works.  She has recently received support from Seattle Mayor’s of Arts and Cultural Affairs City Artist Program, 4Culture, Centrum, and Allied Arts Foundation, and served as artist-in-residence at Seattle Public Library’s Central Library.

Tsiatsios’ work has been presented regionally by On The Boards, Bumbershoot, Seattle Fringe Festival, Northwest Film Forum, and the Signal & Noise Festival in Vancouver BC, among others.  She recently completed a commissioned performance for the upcoming issue of Plazm Magazine, and participated in the National Dance Project's Pacific Northwest Dance Lab as one of “ten Northwest choreographers to watch.”  She co-directed the performance company glassbones for seven years.

In my home, we host friends to share food frequently.  Often it is freshly harvested from our garden and includes eggs from our chickens.  In Room Service, I transport my simple home life 150 blocks north to a home away from home to host a homemade five course organic, seasonal and local meal for my family and friends.
